Leadership and Strategy

Our leadership

EEG is led by a Senior Executive Team made up of the principals of each provision and the heads of the Group's shared services. Together they set strategy, support staff and lead all operational and curriculum activity, and they are accountable to the Board of Trustees of Eastern Education Group Trust and the Board of Governors of West Suffolk College.

The new CFO will join this team as the CEO's strategic finance and commercial partner.

Governance

EEG works much like a charitable corporate group, with its members pursuing shared educational and public benefit aims. West Suffolk College, together with its subsidiary EEG Services Limited, sits alongside Eastern Education Group Trust, which today comprises three primary schools, four specialist SEND schools, an alternative provision and two sixth form colleges.

The College sponsored the Trust's creation in 2015. Then known as Suffolk Academies Trust, it was home to Abbeygate and One Sixth Form Colleges. In September 2024 it grew to include Exning Primary School and a group of SEND schools and centres and took on its current name to reflect the Group's reach across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

Group-wide committees oversee the work of the executive team, while trustees and governors hold leaders to account for the quality of education and the proper use of public funds.

Our strategy

EEG's Strategic Plan sets out where the Group is heading and the priorities that will shape its next chapter. It is well worth reading before you apply, because the CFO will play a central part in turning these ambitions into plans that are affordable, deliverable and built to last.
