About
Learning at every age and every stage
Eastern Education Group is a leading education provider in the East of England, working with learners from the age of five to 75.
It is one of the largest in the East of England, and its provision runs from primary schools, specialist SEND schools and alternative provision through to sixth form colleges, vocational training, apprenticeships, degrees and professional development.
The Group began life as Eastern Colleges Group and took its current name in 2023 to reflect how far its reach had grown. Today it serves communities across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
Its roots go back a century. West Suffolk College opened in 1925 in a modest outbuilding behind a Bury St Edmunds pub and celebrated its centenary in 2025 as the heart of a thriving family of outstanding schools and colleges. Today EEG supports around 15,000 students, locally and nationally.
How the Group is structured
EEG brings together two organisations that work as one. West Suffolk College is a statutory Further Education Corporation. Eastern Education Group Trust, a multi-academy trust sponsored by the College, is home to the Group's primary schools, specialist SEND schools, alternative provision and two sixth form colleges – Abbeygate and Suffolk One. With shared executive leadership, aligned governance and a single strategic plan, they operate as one all-through education organisation.
A track record of excellence
EEG's standards speak for themselves. Following the Ofsted inspection of West Suffolk College in November 2024, it became the only college group in the East to be rated "Outstanding" in every category, and it holds recent "Outstanding" ratings across several types of provision.
That reputation is recognised nationally. West Suffolk College has been named the Construction Technical Excellence College for the East of England, one of just ten colleges chosen to lead the future of construction training through a £100 million government-backed programme.
The Group is proud of what it has achieved, but it never stands still. It keeps improving and adapting as education changes and as the needs of its communities evolve.

One Group, working together
Much of EEG's strength comes from the way its settings work together. Principals lead their own institutions, setting clear direction and high standards for learners and staff. Behind them, central Professional Services teams in HR, finance, IT, estates and compliance make sure every school and college is well resourced and well governed, so leaders can focus on teaching and learning.
This gives the Group consistency where it matters, and flexibility where it helps. Good practice travels quickly, challenges are met with shared expertise, and a collaborative Executive Team brings educational and operational thinking together to keep every setting safe, inclusive and high-performing.
